What Makes YOU feel Better?

There are endless activities people do to make themselves feel better. Some people clean, and unfortunately for this house, I could care less about what my house looks or smells like on most days. (Go ahead, judge me and wrinkle up your nose in disgust, I deserve it!)

Some people, like my husband, find ways to let their imagination help them escape reality. He'll play computer and video games, or simply sit and read a good book. I can't get into the games, but occasionally I'll sit down and try to read. I never seem to be able to finish a book though. Between getting interrupted a million times (I'm not being dramatic. Nope, not me!) by my children, and my horrible habit of reading the last chapter after I get a few pages into the book (I want to make sure I'll like the ending), I hardly ever finish a book. It's more frustrating than relaxing to me...

Other people just like to get out of the house and shop. First problem with this is it's no fun to shop when you don't have extra money to spend. Second problem would be that I avoid being pushed into social situations at all cost these days. Needless to say, venturing into people-ville on my own is a joke.

So what is it that you do Danielle(besides blogging)?

So glad you asked...

I bake.

I like being able to take my frustration or anger, and turn it into something productive and yummy! Here are some of the cakes I've made over the last couple of months... I wonder if these cakes could be the reason I'm having such a hard time losing my baby belly?!

So there you have it. This is what I do when I'm needing a break from reality. It keeps my hands moving and my mind occupied. Not to mention the added bonus of a tasty treat (let's forget about the extra time on the treadmill I'll have to do to burn it off).

What do you do? I'd love to hear what makes YOU feel better.

You are extremely talented. I assume they taste as great as they look. You could have a business selling those cakes!

Wow Danielle, those cakes are beautiful! You should start your own bakery or something. That's awesome!

For me, (besides blogging of course) I dive into my work as a teacher. Or draw and write. I would like to paint but I haven't since before Jenna. There are times that I get to visit with my friend's daughter who has leukemia. This takes my mind off of ME.

My mouth is watering just looking at those. You should go into business with beautiful cakes like those. Seriously, God has given you an amazing talent.

Oh my goodness those cakes are beautiful!!!

I'm a clean freak. I can't stand any type of mess. I think that it's my way of controlling what I can - since there's not too many things that I can control. I also love to take pictures so that's a nice outlet for me.

I'm actually making my very first (and second -- twins) fancy cake this week for my twins bday party. My kids and I fell in love with Cake Boss this Summer and they make it look so easy. So, we're going to try. Not sure how it will turn out but we'll see. Let me know if you have any tricks you can offer!

Thank you for sharing this. I love the cakes you have made, you do great work. I actually have thought about taking cake decorating classes, but just don't have the time or energy to invest in it right now.

So, to make myself feel better, I work on my jewelry. If I don't have any orders to fill, I try to come up with something new, another piece to remember my girls.

Those looks super delicious! Yum! When I need to escape, I throw on my ipod and go for a long walk and get lost in my thoughts and the music. Or I'll read a good book. These day's though most of the books Im reading are the typical empty arms empty cradle type of books. I am with you on the housework stuff, at least now after loosing Bryston. I could care less and it seems so trival compared to our loss.

beautiful!! You can bake me a cake ANY DAY :) It takes patience and talent to bake! I can tell you defiantly have that talent!

I clean, and have become very obsessive after spending so much time in the hospital and I think its something I can control...

You do an amazing job with your cakes!

BTW, I meant to ask you when I was chatting w/you earlier, can you help me make a button for Noah's Blanket Blessings blog? I want a button to share with everyone. Just let me know.

Thanks again for calling me tonight. It really helped to pull me out....I was falling down hard and fast before I chatted w/you....

Love you girl!!

Oh my, what amazing cakes!!! I think this is the first time I commented on your blog but I come over and read it sometimes from Carleigh's. To answer your question, what makes me feel better is listening to music (preferably loud like Petra, Van Halen or Collective Soul!). You can't cry and jam at the same time. Have a good week! ~Debbie

Wow those cakes are so awesome. You should start your own business. They look so yummy. Well to answer your question I love to bake to or just take a long walk myself when stressed. My Dad passed away 23 yrs ago this past Aug and when he died I was working at a church camp & I was there baker there. I went to visit him at 9 that nite and came home at 11 & made cookies all nite just to take my mind off things somewhat & keep busy. He passed away at 6 that morning & I finished baking at 5:30 that same morning.
I also put Wyatt's button on my blog hoping that will help you & your family plus praying for you. {{HUGS}}

You are really, really good at making cakes. They look awesome and very yummy!!! Do you have a secret cake-decorating business or something?

Besides the obvious blogging, I like to read and scrapbook. I like listening to music.

The number one thing that makes me feel better is helping others.

I don't do much cleaning either. I only do it if we are expecting visitors. You are not alone

As for releasing, I am a video game player or a reader. It all depends on my focus. Short focus, video games. Longer focus, reading.

Your cakes are amazing. I agree with the opening your own shop. Chocolate on chocolate is my fave but I just love the frog cake.
