Update, Good News, and Answering Questions

First of all, thanks to all who have offered their help and support with this whole birth certificate fiasco. I wanted to take the time to give you an update on some ground we've taken, and to answer all of the questions I have received.

First, the good news! (Yes, GOOD news)

I was contacted by Representative Richard Montgomery's assistant, who feels very strongly Wyatt's case would be something he would be happy to endorse. Once he gets back from vacation next week, she is going to have him personally call me so we can iron out exactly what steps I need to be taking to get the definition of live birth amended.

She said she is starting my own personal file to keep track of everything I send her. So let's help her fill that file until it's busting at the seams!

I asked her about out of state people being able to sign my petition, and she said "It certainly wouldn't hurt". So, if you haven't signed because you don't live in Tennessee, PLEASE DON'T LET THAT STOP YOU. Sign away! Click here to sign.

Also, If you could spare a few minutes to write a letter to Rep. Montgomery on Wyatt's behalf, I would greatly appreciate it. Just a short note saying that his life, no matter how short it was, deserves to be recognized... AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIVE IN TENNESSEE TO DO THIS EITHER! Any attention we can get to have Wyatt's life recognized will only help us achieve our goal. No one will ever have to go through something like this again. Life will mean life...Period.

This is where you'll want to send your letters:

Representative Richard Montgomery

301 6th Avenue North
Suite 201 War Memorial Building
Nashville, TN 37243
Phone (615) 741-5981
Fax (615) 253-0302

rep.richard.montgomery@capitol.tn.gov

(PLEASE, send letters ATTN: Catie Stroud)

Catie advised me they won't be going back into session until January, so we have a good couple of months to flood their office and rally support.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've contacted our local newspaper about making Tennessee residents aware of the definition of live birth, and to find places around the area that will allow me to leave a copy of my petition for local residents to sign. The newspaper has shown interest in doing an ongoing story as we make progress. The editor is supposed to contact me with in the next couple of days. I'll update when I know more.

In the meantime, It feels good to finally be making some progress, no matter how small it may be. Thanks again for sticking with me during a bumpy road trip you don't have to be taking. It means so much to know there are so many people who care! Well, that's all for now folks. More to come later.

P.S. I wrote and faxed my letter this morning.

I also signed the petition. Not sure if you can see what I wrote on the petition or not but I hope it helps.

I will gladly stand on any street corner or congress steps in order to get this law amended! I will shout at the top of my lungs right beside you.....whatever it takes!

Hi Danielle,

Can you make a button that links to signing the petition? I would like to put one on my blog for people to see. For now I will use your button or header. xx

Signed the petition. I was worried that because I was not a Tennessee resident I wouldn't be able to help you like I had said. I'm glad I could. I am praying that this works. Good job Danielle.
